Two or three decades in the same family home, and the spare room, the garage and the back shed have quietly filled to the ceiling? That slow, whole-house clear-out is the bin job we handle most often in Niddrie, and Binswest has been doing it from our own Sunshine North yard since 2010. Skip bin hire and mini skip hire both start the same way: tell us the street and roughly what is coming out, and we will match the size before you commit to anything. Most homes around here sit on a proper driveway with room to spare, which usually keeps the whole booking simpler than people expect. Call before 9am and the bin can often go out on that same day’s run.
Niddrie is a settled suburb of solid postwar and interwar brick homes on generous regular blocks, built up around the Keilor Road shops. The wide frontages matter for one practical reason: a walk-in skip can sit on your own driveway while you fill it, rather than going out on the road. That single fact decides most of what follows, from the permit question to how fast we can have a bin in front of your house.
Same-Day and Next-Day Delivery to Niddrie
Niddrie sits on our daily round, so delivery is quick and the timing is something we will commit to rather than leave vague. Book before 9am and we can usually get a bin to you the same day, subject to how busy the run already is. Book later and next-day is the standard. We operate six days a week, Monday to Friday from 7am and Saturday mornings, and online enquiries come through any day including Sundays. Our usual rhythm is a Monday drop and a Thursday pickup, with a standard hire of three to seven days and extensions if your job runs long.
When you book, we confirm the delivery date straight away with the details in writing, so you can line up the skip with the weekend you have set aside or the trade who is starting work.
About Binswest, and What Happens to Your Load
Binswest is a family-run waste business founded by Mark in 2010, and in the years since we have delivered bins for more than 6,000 customers across Melbourne’s north and west. The crew is small and the phone reaches the people who book and dispatch the truck, not a call centre reading from a script.
Where your rubbish ends up is the part most operators stay quiet about. Every load we collect goes to our Government-Approved Waste Transfer Station in Sunshine North, where it is sorted by hand rather than tipped straight to landfill. In 2024 that work recovered 41% of incoming material for recycling and a further 35% for repurposing, leaving 24% to landfill. For a household clear-out that means the old furniture, timber and metal from your back shed has a real chance of a second life. For commercial customers who need it, we can supply waste data and reporting on what we recovered.
Pricing for Bin Hire in Niddrie
The starting prices are simple and we put them in writing, so there is no surprise at the gate. Each price covers delivery, the hire period and collection:
-
from $250
-
from $350
-
from $450
-
from $550
-
from $650
-
priced on quote
What moves a price above the starting figure is weight and waste type, which is why a heavy soil-and-rubble load can cost more than a light household one in the same bin. Tell us what is going in and we will give you a figure you can plan around before the truck leaves.
Sizing a Clean-Out, Renovation or Garden Job
Because placement is rarely the hard part in Niddrie, the real question is size. The trick is the load, not just how full the bin looks. As a rough guide for the jobs we see most around here:
- A 2m3 mini suits a single-room declutter or a small garage tidy.
- A 3m3 handles a bigger garage clear-out, a modest garden cut-back or a single-room refresh.
- A 4m3 is the everyday workhorse for a kitchen or bathroom refit, or a solid weekend in an established garden.
- A 6m3 takes a multi-room renovation or a larger landscaping push with plenty of green waste.
- An 8m3 is the one for a whole-of-house clear-out or a full garden overhaul on a deeper block.
Heavy materials change the answer. Soil, bricks, tiles and broken concrete weigh far more than their bulk suggests, so a part-filled bin of hard rubble can hit its limit well before it looks full. If your load is heavy or mixed, tell us what is going in and we will steer you to a size that carries the weight, not just the volume. Sizes of 10m3 and up are available for bigger jobs and are priced on quote.

Moonee Valley, Not Keilor Park: the Council Line That Catches People Out
Here is the wrinkle worth knowing before you book a permit you may not need. Niddrie shares its 3042 postcode with Keilor Park next door, but the two answer to different councils: Niddrie sits in Moonee Valley City Council, while Keilor Park falls under Brimbank. So if you go looking for placement rules by postcode alone, you can easily land on the wrong council’s process. For a Niddrie street, it is Moonee Valley that matters.
For most of our customers here the question is moot. A council placement permit is only needed when a bin stands on the road, the nature strip or the footpath. Put the skip on your own driveway or anywhere on private property, which the generous blocks around Niddrie usually allow, and no permit applies at all. If your street is the exception and the bin has to go kerbside, a Moonee Valley permit comes into it, and we will point you to the council’s current process and tell you what it involves at booking. Give us the address and we will confirm whether you need one before you commit, rather than leaving you to guess.

What You Can and Can’t Put in the Bin
Most general household, renovation, garden and commercial waste is fine: furniture, timber, metal, green waste, tiles, bricks, soil and general rubbish. Some items are not allowed in a skip under any circumstances, including asbestos, gas bottles, liquids, paint, chemicals and batteries, because they need specialised handling that protects the sorting crew and keeps the load clean for recovery. A few other items are accepted only on certain terms. Rather than list every case here, we keep the full rules on our guide to what is allowed in our skip bins, and if you are unsure about a particular item, mention it when you book and we will give you a straight answer.
- Wet Paints
Liquid paints or leftover tins
- Flammable Liquid
Petrol, thinners, solvents, oils
- Asbestos
Any bonded or loose asbestos
- Gas Bottles
BBQ cylinders, LPG tanks
- Tyres. Batteries*
Car tires, lithium's or lead-acid batteries

Clearing a Keilor Road Shop or Cafe Fit-Out
Not every Niddrie job is a house. The Keilor Road strip turns over its share of shops and cafes, and a fit-out or strip-out throws off a fast, mixed load of old joinery, shelving and floor coverings. The catch along the strip is space: a shopfront rarely has private ground to stand a bin on, so the skip usually goes kerbside, and street parking near the shops is tight. That is the case where a Moonee Valley permit and a well-timed drop both come into play. If you are handing back a lease or refreshing a shopfront, tell us the trading hours and how the loading works out front, and we will plan the delivery and pickup around them so a bin is not sitting on the strip longer than it needs to be.
Moonee Valley Suburbs We Also Cover
Niddrie is one of many Moonee Valley suburbs on our daily round. We deliver the same skip and mini skip hire, the same written pricing and the same Sunshine North sorting to the streets nearby, including bin hire in Airport West, bin hire in Aberfeldie and bin hire in Ascot Vale, as well as Essendon West and Avondale Heights. If your job sits on the boundary or spans more than one suburb, tell us the address and we will sort the run.
Bin Hire Niddrie: Your Questions Answered
On most Niddrie blocks, yes. The wide postwar frontages here usually give a walk-in skip room to stand on your own driveway, and when the bin is on private property no council permit is required. A permit only applies when the skip has to go on the road, nature strip or footpath. Give us the address and we will confirm which applies to your street before you book.
For a single-room kitchen or bathroom refit, a 4m3 is the usual pick. A multi-room renovation or one that also clears an established garden often steps up to a 6m3 or 8m3. Heavy rubble loads can need a smaller bin than you would expect by volume, so tell us what is coming out and we will size for the weight.
Generally yes. Niddrie’s regular blocks and good frontages give our truck the room to place a mid-to-large skip cleanly. If a particular driveway or position looks tight, we will say so up front when you give us the address, rather than turning up and finding the bin cannot land where you hoped.
We do. For a job near the strip we plan the drop and pickup around the trading hours and the loading space out front, and where the bin goes kerbside we factor in the Moonee Valley permit. Tell us how the access works and we will time the delivery to suit.
Book before 9am and we can usually deliver the same day, depending on how full the run is. Otherwise next-day is standard. We work six days a week, and you can enquire online any day.
