Special Waste Handling Guidelines
Green Waste
- Includes grass clippings, leaves, branches, weeds, and small tree stumps.
- Tree roots are accepted, but larger roots may attract additional costs depending on size and weight.
- No treated timber or general waste in green waste bins.
Batteries
- Accepted only if placed on top of the waste in your bin.
- Must be mentioned at time of booking to ensure safe handling and transport.
- Do not bury or mix batteries with other waste.'
Tyres
- Standard tyres can be added to any bin.
- Extra charge of $40 per tyre applies due to recycling regulations.
- Please place tyres near the top or side of the bin for easy identification.
Mattresses
- We accept mattresses for free when you hire a bin 4 cubic metres or larger.
- For bins smaller than 4m³, mattress removal may not be available or may incur a small handling fee.
- Must be declared during booking to arrange appropriate processing.
Material Types – What Are You Throwing Out?
To streamline your skip bin hire and ensure you choose the right bin, please select the type of waste you’ll be disposing of. Each category has specific guidelines and may impact the price or size of bin you’ll need.
A. Household Cleanup
Ideal for spring cleaning, moving house, or general decluttering.
Accepted Items:
- Furniture (tables, chairs, lounges)
- Whitegoods (fridges, washing machines — must be empty)
- Toys, clothes, books
- Small electronics
- Light packaging
No food waste, liquids, or hazardous materials.
B. Renovation Materials
Perfect for kitchen, bathroom, or laundry renovations.
Accepted Items:
- Plasterboard / drywall
- Timber (untreated)
- Tiles, sinks, bathtubs
- Benchtops, cabinetry
- Insulation (bagged)
No asbestos, wet paint, or chemicals.
C. Construction Waste
Best for builders and contractors on residential or commercial jobs.
Accepted Items:
- Bricks, pavers, concrete (clean)
- Plaster, insulation (bagged)
- Roofing materials
- Timber, tiles
- Metal scraps
Ensure heavy materials are evenly distributed in the bin.
No asbestos, chemical drums, or flammables.
D. Industrial Waste
For factory cleanouts, warehouse waste or light manufacturing debris.
Accepted Items:
- Pallets
- Packaging (plastic, cardboard)
- Equipment parts (non-hazardous)
- Light scrap metal
- Plastic piping or off-cuts
No hazardous chemicals, oils, or e-waste unless pre-approved.
E. Commercial Waste
Best for office cleanouts or business premises.
Accepted Items:
- Paper, cardboard
- Office furniture
- Old computers/monitors (check for e-waste add-ons)
- Light fixtures
- Fit-out materials
E-waste needs to be declared separately for proper recycling.
F. Heavy Materials (Soil / Concrete / Tiles / Timber)
Aimed at landscaping or demolition jobs.
Accepted Items:
- Clean fill (soil with no contaminants)
- Bricks, tiles
- Concrete, rocks
- Hardwood timber
Must not be mixed with other waste types.
Bins containing only heavy waste may be restricted in volume (usually max 6m³) due to weight limits.
G. Mixed Heavy Materials (All of the Above)
Need flexibility? This is the most common option for large cleanouts.
Accepted Items:
- Any combination of the above materials
- Great for major renovations or site demolitions
