The first garden on a new Brookfield block tends to leave behind a small mountain of dug-out clay, busted-up path offcuts and bagged soil that has to go somewhere. That is the load most callers out here are weighing up, and it is the one people most often get wrong, because soil and hard fill are heavy long before they are bulky. Binswest has run skips into the western growth corridor from our Sunshine North yard since 2010, with more than 6,000 jobs behind us, so the first thing we ask is not what size you want but what is going in. Brookfield is the newer estate country west of the Melton town centre, where the blocks are wide and the driveways are double-width concrete. That shape decides almost everything about your skip hire here, starting with where the bin can sit.

Heavy Fill Is the Question Most Brookfield Jobs Turn On

A skip of soil, clay or broken concrete weighs several times what the same skip of timber and cardboard weighs, and that is the single thing worth getting right before you book. People see a big empty bin and fill it to the brim with dug-out fill, then the load is over weight at half the volume.

So if you are establishing a garden, regrading for turf, or pulling up a temporary builder’s path, tell us it is a fill job and roughly how much. We will steer you to a smaller bin loaded sensibly rather than a large one you cannot legally lift, and we will be straight about the heavy-material rate so there is no surprise at pickup. A mixed garden load that is mostly green waste and a bit of soil behaves very differently again. Either way, naming the material up front is what keeps the price honest and the truck able to take it.

About Binswest

Binswest is a locally owned operator based in Sunshine North, started by Mark in 2010 to give Melbourne’s west a bin company that handles the disposal end properly. Sixteen years on, more than 6,000 jobs have run through our Government-Approved Waste Transfer Station, and about a quarter of new bookings come from someone who was referred by a past customer. The disposal is the part we are proudest of: in 2024 we recovered 41% of everything we collected as recycling and 35% as repurposed material, leaving just 24% to landfill. For a Brookfield job that throws up soil, hard fill and green waste, it means your load is sorted for recovery at the yard rather than tipped straight into the ground.

Pricing for Bin Hire in Brookfield

Most operators out this way keep the number behind a quote form. We publish ours. These are the starting prices, set out before you book:

  • from $250
  • from $350
  • from $450
  • from $550
  • from $650
  • priced on quote

Two honest notes. These are starting prices, so the final figure moves with the weight and the waste type, and on this estate that matters more than usual: a skip of clay or concrete carries a heavy-material rate that a skip of light garden trimmings does not. And there are no hidden fees stacked on top. The best-price guarantee means the price we name is the price you pay. If your load is mostly clean soil or clean green waste, say so when you call, because separated material often sorts more cheaply.

Which Skip Size Suits Your Brookfield Job

We run skip and Marrel bins from 2m3 through to 31m3, so there is a fit whether you are clearing one room or a whole new-build landscape. Here is what the common sizes handle.

  • 2m3: a single-room declutter or a small tidy-up. Top-load only, no door.
  • 3m3: a bathroom strip or a modest garage clear. Top-load only.
  • 4m3: a small renovation, or a garden job you want to barrow into. Wheelbarrow door and ramp, which is the size most first-garden loads land on.
  • 6m3: a larger landscape strip-out or a bigger renovation. Wheelbarrow door and ramp.
  • 8m3: bulky mixed waste or a full house declutter. Wheelbarrow door and ramp.

For a whole-estate landscape or a building job, the 10m3 and larger range is priced on quote. When a load is heavy fill, the right answer is often a smaller bin than the volume suggests, so if you are caught between two sizes on a soil or concrete job, ring us before you book and we will talk it through.

Same-Day and Next-Day Delivery to Brookfield

Brookfield is a straight run west from our Sunshine North yard, and there is no out-of-zone surcharge for reaching it. Book by 9am and same-day delivery is usually available, depending on how full the run already is. Miss that window and next-day is the standard, with most jobs running a Monday drop-off and a Thursday pickup unless you ask for something else.

We answer the phones Monday to Friday 7am to 4pm and Saturday 7am to 1pm, and the online enquiry form takes bookings every day, Sundays included. Standard hire is three to seven days, and on a staged landscaping job that runs longer, extensions are easy to sort. You get a confirmation with your delivery date the moment the booking is set.

What You Can and Can’t Put in the Bin

General household, renovation, garden and construction waste are all fine: timber, tiles, plaster, soil, concrete, clean fill, green waste, furniture, the lot. The load needs to sit level with the rim rather than heaped over it, so the truck can lift it safely under OH&S load rules. On Brookfield’s open estate streets there is a second reason to keep it level: an exposed block catches the wind, and a skip loaded above the rim sheds light packaging across the neighbours’ yards before the truck arrives.

A short list stays out of every skip by regulation: asbestos, gas bottles, tyres, batteries, wet paint and flammable liquids. If you are not sure whether something on the block qualifies, ask when you book, or check our full guide to what is allowed in our skip bins. It is a quick answer, and far cheaper than a contamination charge at the gate.

Skip Bin Waste Materials that are NOT Allowed
  • Wet Paints

    Liquid paints or leftover tins

  • Flammable Liquid

    Petrol, thinners, solvents, oils

  • Asbestos

    Any bonded or loose asbestos

  • Gas Bottles

    BBQ cylinders, LPG tanks

  • Tyres. Batteries*

Car tires, lithium's or lead-acid batteries

Do not overfill skip bins for OH&S reasons

Does a Brookfield Skip Need a Council Permit?

On most Brookfield blocks, no. A council placement permit is only needed when a skip sits on a public road, nature strip or footpath. The estate was laid out with wide concrete driveways and double garages, so on the large majority of bookings the bin goes on your own driveway: no public land, no City of Melton permit.

Where it does come in is the exception worth flagging early. If a corner placement or a tight courtyard block means the only workable spot is the street, a permit through the City of Melton applies, and we will tell you that at the quote rather than on delivery day. We will confirm the council’s current placement-permit fee at booking. Tell us your address and we will sort out which way it falls before the truck leaves the yard.

Melton Suburbs We Service Around Brookfield

Brookfield sits in a cluster of City of Melton suburbs we run daily, so a neighbouring address is no further out of our way:

  • Bin Hire Strathtulloh: the fresh-build estate edge to the south
  • Bin Hire Weir Views: the slightly older homes near the Melton Weir
  • Bin Hire Kurunjang: the established streets on the Melton town side

All three sit in the City of Melton, same as Brookfield. We run the same daily trucks across to bin hire in Burnside and bin hire in Burnside Heights on the Caroline Springs side, and north to bin hire in Diggers Rest, all of them inside the same council. If your job runs to an address beyond that cluster, our wider Bin Hire Melbourne coverage reaches across 15-plus council areas through the west, north, CBD and inner suburbs.

Frequently Asked Questions

I am putting in the first garden and have a lot of soil and old path to get rid of. What size do I need?

Smaller than you would guess. Soil and broken concrete are heavy, so a load that looks like it needs an 8m3 is often a 4m3 filled to a safe weight. Tell us it is a fill job and roughly how much, and we will size it to the weight rather than the volume, and quote the heavy-material rate up front so there is nothing to discover at pickup.

Do I need a City of Melton permit for a skip on my Brookfield driveway?

On most Brookfield blocks, no. The driveway is private land, so no permit applies. A permit only comes in if the bin has to go on the road, nature strip or footpath, which on these wide-driveway estate blocks is the exception. Give us your address and we will confirm which applies before delivery.

Can you deliver a skip to Brookfield the same day?

Usually, if you book by 9am and the run is not already full. Brookfield is a direct run west from our Sunshine North yard with no out-of-zone fee, so it turns around quickly. After 9am, next-day is the standard.

How much is skip bin hire in Brookfield?

Starting prices run from $250 for a 2m3 up to $650 for an 8m3, with the 10m3 and larger bins priced on quote. The final figure depends on the weight and waste type, so a clay or concrete load carries a heavy-material rate that light garden waste does not. There are no hidden fees on top of the starting price.
