Knocking back a tired bathroom or stripping a path and a retaining wall out of an older Coolaroo yard, and the rubble is already heavier than you bargained for? Dense waste is the thing that catches people out here, and it is the first thing worth getting right when you hire a bin. Binswest has run skips into Melbourne’s north since 2010, so we ask what is going in before we ask what size you want, because a half-filled bin of broken concrete can weigh more than a full bin of furniture. Get the size matched to the weight and the rest of the booking is easy. Phone 0427 166 444 and tell us the job, and we will put a real number on it before you commit to anything.
Heavy Fill or a Household Clear? Which Skip Your Coolaroo Load Needs
Are you clearing a whole house, resetting an overgrown back garden, or pulling up old paths and brick edging? The first two are bulky but light, and volume decides the bin. The last one is heavy long before it looks full, so the weight decides it instead. Tell us which you have and we will size to it rather than to the biggest body on the truck.
Binswest runs Marrel lift-on, walk-in and Hooklift bins from 2m3 through 31m3, so there is a fit for a single-room declutter and a fit for a full redevelopment strip.
- 2m3 mini: a garage tidy, a single-room declutter or a small garden clear. This is the size behind most mini skip hire in Coolaroo.
- 3m3: a small bathroom strip or an end-of-lease clear on a one or two-bedroom home.
- 4m3: a single-room kitchen renovation or a heavy mixed load, with a wheelbarrow door for easy loading.
- 6m3 walk-in: a full kitchen renovation or a large back-garden overhaul.
- 8m3 walk-in: a whole-house clean-out or a deceased estate, and the size we book most often onto Coolaroo blocks.
- 10m3 and larger Hooklift: multi-room redevelopment and builder’s waste, which need straight kerb or worksite room for the truck.
A heavy load of soil, brick, concrete or tile is the exception to “bigger is safer”. Pack a large bin with hard fill and it can pass its safe travel weight while there is still space at the top, so for those jobs a smaller bin loaded right is the correct call, not the cheap one. Standard hire runs 3 to 7 days, with extensions on request.
About Binswest
Mark founded Binswest in 2010, and across the years since it has stayed family-owned and served more than 6,000 clients across Melbourne’s western, northern, CBD and inner suburbs. We dispatch from our own Government-Approved Waste Transfer Station in Sunshine North, which is what lets us sort every load ourselves and quote you a straight price with no surprises at the gate. It also lets us be specific about where your waste ends up: across 2024 we recovered 41% of what we collected to recycling and 35% to repurposing, sending 24% to landfill. Roughly three-quarters of every load stayed out of the ground. For a Coolaroo job that needs disposal data for a builder or an insurer, that reporting comes with the bin.
What Bin Hire in Coolaroo Costs, Per Size and In Writing
Most providers around here keep the number behind a quote form. We do not. Coolaroo sits inside our standard delivery zone from Sunshine North, so there is no out-of-zone surcharge layered onto the starting prices below.
-
from $250
-
from $350
-
from $450
-
from $550
-
from $650
-
priced on quote
Those starting prices are for general waste. The 8m3 at $650 is the one that handles a typical whole-house clear of carpet, cabinetry, white goods and garden rubble. The larger Hooklift bodies are quoted rather than fixed, because a heavy redevelopment or worksite load varies too much by weight and access to carry one flat figure honestly. Give us the material and we will name the number on the call.
Getting a Skip to Your Coolaroo Street, Same Day or Next
Order before 9am and your Coolaroo skip can go out the same day, subject to how booked the run is, and that commitment is written into your confirmation. After 9am, next-day covers almost everything. The Sunshine North leg to Coolaroo runs via the Western Ring Road on our weekday rotation, so a truck passes this corridor every business day. Operating hours are Mon-Fri 7am-4pm and Sat 7am-1pm, with online enquiries answered any day, Sundays included.
A couple of jobs sit outside the same-day rule. The big Hooklift bodies for a redevelopment or worksite need a day’s notice, because the truck-and-trailer is not on the standard skip rotation. A street placement waits on the council’s approval. And a very heavy load in peak demand may need 24 hours so the right truck is matched to the weight. Every delivery and pickup is fully insured.

When a Coolaroo Skip Needs a Hume Permit
For most household jobs in Coolaroo the honest answer is that no permit is needed. The postwar and renewal homes here generally have a driveway or off-street room, and a 4m3, 6m3 or 8m3 sits entirely on private property, which keeps Hume City Council out of it.
A placement permit comes in when the bin has to go on a public road, nature strip or footpath. That is the common case on the tighter renewal-unit streets with no off-street room, and on a worksite frontage near the industrial estate north of the rail line. When that is your situation, tell us the address and we will confirm the current Hume placement-permit rate at booking and point you to the council’s lodgement step, so the approval and the delivery line up rather than tripping over each other. The answer genuinely changes street to street, which is why we settle it against your own address before anything is booked.
What Goes in the Bin, and What Has to Stay Out
A lot of Coolaroo’s housing is pre-1980s, so two materials come up here that have to be handled outside the skip. Asbestos sheeting turns up in old eaves linings, fence sheets and outbuildings of that era, and it is never permitted in any bin from any operator. It needs a licensed asbestos removalist. Lead paint scrapings off pre-1980s painted surfaces cannot go in general waste either. If you are redeveloping an older home, a pre-demolition check is the sensible first move, and we will size the bin for the household and building waste that remains.
Beyond those, the standard prohibited list applies under waste-disposal regulations and load-safety rules: flammable liquids, wet paint, gas bottles, tyres and batteries are not accepted, and a bin must not be loaded above the rim so it can travel safely. Household furniture, timber, cardboard, green waste, and brick and concrete in a heavy-waste-quoted bin all go straight in. Tell us if you are unsure about an item when you book, and we will confirm it then.
The Hume Suburbs Around Coolaroo We Also Cover
Coolaroo sits on our daily northern run out of Sunshine North, and the same trucks, the same published pricing and the same rotation reach the suburbs around it. If your job straddles a boundary, these are the immediate neighbours we also service:
- Directly west in the compact postwar pocket of Dallas, bin hire in Dallas covers the clean-out and renewal work that is the staple there.
- Meadow Heights, the established family-estate suburb to the west that shares Coolaroo’s postcode, and a little further out we run the same service for bin hire in Attwood.
- Roxburgh Park, the larger Hume estate to the north, with its family-home landscaping and renovation loads, and the same northern run carries on to bin hire in Craigieburn.
Why a Heavy Renovation Load Quotes Differently Here
The Coolaroo jobs that go wrong on price are almost always the heavy ones, and that is where sorting our own waste earns its keep. When a bin is full of broken brick, dug-out clay or concrete, what matters is not the cubic metres on the label but the tonnes on the axle, and getting that wrong means a second truck or an overweight bin nobody can lift. We read the density before we read the size, then route the material through our own transfer station rather than tipping it blind.
That control is also why a Coolaroo redevelopment customer gets a clean disposal report and a price that holds from the call to the gate. The person who answers the phone is the person who books your delivery, and the best-price guarantee carries whether the job is a single mini skip on a driveway or a run of bins off a strip-out. Light loads are simple anywhere. Heavy ones are where a local operator who handles their own sorting actually saves you money.
Frequently Asked Questions
Only if the bin sits on a public road, nature strip or footpath. Most household jobs on a Coolaroo driveway need no permit at all. Worksite frontages and tight renewal-unit streets often do, and we confirm the Hume City Council placement-permit rate at booking and flag the lodgement step.
Smaller than you would expect, often a 4m3 or 6m3, because soil, brick and concrete hit the safe weight limit well before they fill a big bin. Tell us roughly what is coming out and how much of it is hard fill, and we will size to the weight and quote it flat. Larger Hooklift bodies for full redevelopment work are priced on quote.
Every fixed-price size is listed above, starting with the 2m3 mini from $250. The 8m3 at $650 is the common pick for a whole-house clear, and 10m3 and larger are priced on quote. A heavy load or a longer hire will move the figure, and we name it on the call.
Yes, for household, timber, brick and general building waste. Asbestos can never go in any skip, so book a licensed removalist for any asbestos fraction first, then we will size the bin for the rest of the load.
