Got a long gravel driveway and a paddock job waiting at the end of it? That access question is usually the first thing worth sorting for bin hire in Wildwood, the lifestyle-block pocket of large rural-residential properties sitting just out from Sunbury. Binswest has delivered skip and mini skip bins across Melbourne’s north since 2010, and over more than 6,000 jobs we have learned where a truck can turn and where it cannot. Tell us the entrance and the surface, and we will work out the drop before you book, so the bin lands where you actually need it rather than at the front gate.
Out here the blocks run to acreage, which changes the job in two practical ways. The loads are bigger and heavier, leaning toward paddock and fence-line clears, tree and green waste, and rural-home renovation. And because there is room to spare on private land, the skip almost always sits on your own property, well clear of the road. We will come back to what that means for council permits below, but it is the reason most Wildwood bookings skip a step their inner-suburb neighbours cannot.
If you need a skip on the ground quickly, book by 9am and same-day delivery is available, subject to how busy the run is that morning. Next-day is the reliable default. Either way, the price we quote includes the drive out to your block, so there is no separate distance fee waiting at the gate.
Will a Truck Reach the End of Your Driveway?
This is the question that separates a Wildwood booking from a tidy suburban one, and it is worth a real answer rather than a guess on delivery day. Our trucks carry the bin out and lower it into position, so they need a firm surface, room to turn, and clearance from low branches and soft edges along the way. A wet, deeply rutted gravel track after rain is a different proposition to a compacted one, and a tight farm gate can decide which bin fits through.
None of that is a problem you have to solve alone. When you call, describe the entrance, the driveway length and surface, and where you would like the bin to sit. We will tell you honestly whether the delivery truck can make it to that spot or whether a position closer to the road works better, and we will match the bin size and type to the access at the same time. The aim is simple: the skip arrives where it is useful, with no surprises and no truck stuck halfway up a paddock track.
About Binswest
Binswest is a locally owned skip bin business founded in 2010 and run out of our own Government-Approved Waste Transfer Station in Sunshine North. Mark built the company to give Melbourne’s north and west a reliable local operator, and more than 6,000 clients on, that is still the job: turn up when we say, quote a fair price with nothing hidden, and put the waste to good use rather than straight into the ground.
That last part is measurable. Every load we collect comes back to our Sunshine North facility and is sorted by hand. In 2024 we recovered 41% of it for recycling and another 35% for repurposing, leaving 24% as landfill. For a Wildwood property clear that means the timber, green waste, metal and clean fill coming off your block is separated for recovery, not tipped as one mixed heap. It is the same standard whether you are filling a 2m3 mini skip or a large rural clean-up bin.
Pricing for Bin Hire in Wildwood
We put our starting prices in writing, so you can plan the job before you call. Each size starts from a set figure, with the final price depending on the waste type and total weight going in:
-
from $250
-
from $350
-
from $450
-
from $550
-
from $650
-
priced on quote
The starting price already covers delivery out to Wildwood and collection at the end of the hire. There is no hidden distance surcharge for the rural leg, which is the figure other operators tend to leave off the page. Sizes of 10m3 and up vary too much by job to carry a fixed number, so we quote those on the spot once we know the load. Standard hire runs 3 to 7 days, with extensions available if the job runs long.
Sizing a Bin to a Rural Clean-Up
Acreage jobs tend to produce more than a suburban driveway ever does, so most Wildwood loads land in the middle and upper end of the range. As a rough guide:
- A 2m3 or 3m3 skip suits a small clean-out, a single shed corner, or a modest garden tidy.
- A 4m3 handles a small renovation or a heavier mixed load, with a wheelbarrow door and ramp for easy loading.
- A 6m3 or 8m3 is the usual choice for a big garden overhaul, a fence-line and vegetation clear, or rural-home renovation waste.
- For a full property strip-out, a shed demolition or a paddock cleared in one go, larger bins up to 31m3 are available. Tell us roughly what is coming out and we will recommend the size that fits the load and the access.
Heavy material matters as much as volume on a rural job. Soil, concrete, bricks and rubble are dense, so a bin can hit its weight limit while it still looks half empty. If your load is mostly heavy fill, mention it when you book and we will steer you to the right size rather than leaving you with an overweight skip that cannot be lifted safely.

Do You Still Need a Hume Permit Out Here?
Wildwood sits in Hume City Council, and the permit rule is straightforward. A council placement permit is only needed when a skip goes on the road, the kerb or the nature strip. On the large rural-residential blocks that make up Wildwood, the bin almost always sits on your own driveway or paddock, well inside the boundary, so a permit rarely comes into it at all.
If your situation is the exception, say a narrow frontage where the only workable spot is the roadside, a Hume permit applies and we will confirm the council’s current rate with you at booking rather than leaving you to chase it. For the large majority of Wildwood jobs, though, the bin stays on private land and there is nothing to lodge. When you give us the address and the spot you have in mind, we will tell you which of the two applies before the truck is booked.
What Can and Can’t Go in the Bin
Most of what comes off a rural block is straightforward to load. General household and renovation rubbish, old furniture and junk, green waste from garden and paddock clears, building materials like bricks, tiles, concrete and plaster, and clean commercial or light industrial waste are all fine.
A short list of materials cannot go in any skip, by regulation and for load safety: asbestos, flammable liquids, wet paints, gas bottles, tyres and batteries. These need specialist disposal, and on an older rural property they do turn up, an abandoned gas bottle behind a shed or a stack of old tyres in a paddock corner. If you are unsure how to handle a specific item, ask when you book and we will point you the right way. For the full rundown, see our guide on what is allowed in our skip bins. And please do not overfill: a level load keeps the lift safe and within OH&S rules.
Booking and What Happens to Your Waste
Booking is a short call or an online enquiry. Pick the size, tell us the address and the access, and you get instant confirmation with your delivery date. The standard rhythm is a Monday drop-off and a Thursday pickup, though we run six days a week and can fit other days around your job. We are reachable Monday to Friday 7am to 4pm and Saturday 7am to 1pm, with after-hours support through the week and online enquiries answered on Sundays.
Once the bin is collected, it goes back to Sunshine North for sorting and recovery, the same recycling-first process every load gets. If you need waste data for compliance reporting on a larger or commercial job, we can provide that too.
Wildwood and the Hume Areas We Cover
Wildwood is one of several Hume properties we run to on the northern route from Sunshine North. We also cover bin hire in Sunbury, the larger township just down the road, along with the airport-edge blocks of Oaklands Junction and the farming country of Yuroke. The same northern run takes in bin hire in Attwood and bin hire in Coolaroo closer to the freeway, and bin hire in Craigieburn further along the corridor. If your property sits across one of those boundaries, give us the address and we will confirm both the run and the council before you commit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Wildwood is a regular stop on our northern run from Sunshine North, and the starting price already includes the drive out and the collection. There is no separate out-of-zone or distance fee added at the gate.
Usually, yes, but it depends on the surface, the width and the turning room. Describe the entrance and driveway when you book and we will tell you straight whether the truck can reach your preferred spot or whether a position nearer the road suits better. We match the bin to the access either way.
In almost all Wildwood cases, no. A Hume placement permit is only required when the skip goes on the road, kerb or nature strip. On a large rural-residential block the bin sits on private property, so there is nothing to lodge. We will confirm it for your address before delivery.
For a large vegetation, fence-line or shed clear, most people land on a 6m3 or 8m3. A full property strip-out or demolition can call for a larger bin up to 31m3. Tell us what is coming out and roughly how heavy it is, and we will recommend the size that fits both the load and your driveway access.
